What is respite care at home and how can it help me?

We won’t say anything cliched about pouring from empty cups. We won’t say anything about deserving a fab night out with your friends. We won’t even say anything about it actually being a very good thing for your loved one (oops, we just did).

You can’t do everything, be everywhere and care for everyone all of the time. You’ll end up as drained and grumpy as the Grinch at Christmas, but perhaps ever so slightly less green.

So, what is respite care and how can it help?

In short, respite care is when you tag in someone else and everyone gets a good break.

But not just any old ‘someone’.

Someone specially chosen to provide consistent, friendly, emotional and physical support at home for your loved one as and when you require it.

That’s when it’s respite care to the rescue. You dodge the drained, frazzled guilt trips and they no longer feel like a burden watching you trying to juggle your life and theirs.

It makes a whole lot of sense to allocate a Respite Carer who becomes a friend they look forward to and this is why…

Who is Respite Care for?

Generally, Respite Care is for unpaid carers looking after an adult or older relative. Its goal is to give you a break whether that’s short-term, or last-minute. Your Carer calls by and promotes a consistent, enjoyable environment caring for your loved one just as you do.

We begin with a comprehensive care assessment and create a bespoke care plan that covers all aspects of personal, health and medical care. And the best bit…?

No upheaval or disruption to your loved one’s life. They remain in their own home, follow all of their preferred routines and can enjoy the comfort of their favourite chair (let’s be honest, we all have one).

We will liaise with you – as their primary carer – to provide the exact support they need for however many hours, days and weeks that you need it.

Perhaps they are unsteady, forgetful, or unwell? Perhaps they have specific needs, routines and medical requirements? Maybe an illness or an operation has created short-term care needs? Regardless of the current challenges, with proper planning, we can have them comfortable and cared for with a new companion to boot.

It’s what we do. And we’re really good at it.

We believe everyone deserves to be looked after like they are Brad Pitt at the Oscars, regardless of their circumstances, wellness, or mileage.

With your loved one relaxed and well-catered for, you get to rest, relax, or go wild (we aren’t here to judge) and return to a well-oiled, happy home ready and enjoy quality time together.

Your Respite Carer will be hand-picked, highly trained, and give Mary Poppins a run for her money. Independence, quality and consistency… we’ve got your care needs covered. If you have questions about Respite Care for your loved one, we have answers. Why not get in touch for a chat about how Pure Life Care can help?
