What do in-home care services include?

Perhaps we ought to begin with what in-home care services should definitely not include…

When you think of your loved one being cared for in their home, rarely does the vision include an endless parade of new faces (Oprah Winfrey has met fewer people). A box-ticking exercise is also a huge miss (call us crazy, people are not boxes). Generic care plans administered with the bedside manner of Simon Cowell aren’t ideal either.

We’ve all heard some scary stories regarding professional in-home care services for the elderly. Worse, we’ve witnessed them.

It can leave you feeling clueless and concerned when it’s time to consider in-home care services for your mum, dad, or loved one.

You want them to feel happy when their home carer calls. You’ve provided the ideal companion. Someone to step in when you can’t. Someone to lighten the load and boost morale. This someone has a very special task indeed. They’re responsible for your loved one and that is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Call us old-fashioned. We like to leave every cherished member of our Kent community with a spring in their step and a gleam in their eye. Every day is another gift to cherish with loved ones, and friends old and new.

So, how do we find and select your perfect home-care companion?

We hire based on attitude and character and provide extensive training, qualifications, remuneration and mentoring to match.

Once you and your loved one decide it might be time to get some extra in-home help, your designated carer will conduct a bespoke assessment to understand your needs. Perhaps they need to show up at certain times and assist with medication. Maybe they need to lend a hand around the house. Help with shopping, meals, washing, cleaning… fulfilling simple tasks so that your loved one doesn’t have to. You may want their visit to provide some additional companionship to keep loneliness at bay. With your help and theirs, we’ll create and deliver your loved one’s bespoke care plan and conduct ongoing assessments to ensure it’s up to date.

You can relax. Your carer has their own experienced mentor, a supportive team, a wealth of training and is often working towards advanced care qualifications. We see the smiles, pride and appreciation that come from this role every day. And it’s not just from the clients we serve. It’s from our carers. They love seeing the daily difference they make. This isn’t a boring office job or a mundane 9-5. It’s a calling.

Your loved one might be (understandably) apprehensive. It can feel like quite a crossroads asking for help. Most people would rather scratch their left eyeball with a spoon than ask for help, but it’s often the best thing you can do for quality living and peace of mind. It soon becomes something to look forward to, but don’t take our word for it…
